Tourism Awards winner 2013

Each year the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards give recognition to “the ‘best of the best’ tourism businesses of all sizes in the Highlands and Islands”.  So, you can imagine how delighted we were on Friday 4th October when Gordon was awarded the prestigious accolade of being “Best Young Highland Ambassador” 2013.

Gordon was shortlisted for this award in 2011 but was pipped at the post, so we were hopeful that this year he would triumph, especially as it was the last year he could be considered as “young” (the award age limit is 30)!  All kilted up he attended a glittering awards ceremony at the Drumossie Hotel and, after a tense wait (and a few whiskies to calm the nerves) the judges announced Gordon as the winner, saying that WOW Scotland is “focused on providing visitors with a world class experience” – we couldn’t have put it better ourselves! His prize? A smart trophy which is taking pride of place at WOW HQ, plus a scholarship to a tourism course of his choosing next year – not to be sniffed at!
